I feel like it is the first day of school and I have to write about what I did over the summer.

I made my first “pot” in my sophomore year of college. The challenge and satisfaction has never
lessened. Making, repairing and painting furniture was something that just happened, and has also provided challenge and satisfaction.

I feel very fortunate to be allowed to work in a wonderful old feed building with a porch that
provides views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and animals grazing in the fields. However, if you look at my work, you will see absolutely no connection.

I feel I have come full circle...a young college co-ed in southern California during the 1960’s, to a
pleasantly satisfied women in the village of Mt. Olive, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. I think if my husband David and I stay sane, my life and creative juices will just keep flowing.

What did you do this summer?

Donna did her undergraduate and graduate studies at San Diego State College, and has served on the
faculty of UNC Wilmington, Cape Fear Technical College and Brunswick County Community College.
