As a little girl I was often caught playing in my mother's jewelry box. The years have passed but not my love of jewelry. The passion is a legacy from my grandmother, who adored gifts in "little boxes". Together we spent hours exploring the treasures in her jewelry box. It was the inheritance of her costume jewelry collection that inspired me to take my first jewelry making class. Using the knowledge gained I repaired and redesigned much of her beloved collection to share with four generations of women in her family. What a wonderful opportunity to learn, share and remember a very special lady.

Retirement from a career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist has given me the freedom to pursue many interests and jewelry making has become a big part of my life. I have taken many classes in jewelry fabrication, wire working and metalsmithing. I love to work with copper, brass and silver, but no metal is safe. Even vintage silverware has taken on new life at my workbench. I constantly find new ways to create jewelry using ideas and found objects that come to me in daily life.

From my beginnings as a Folk Artist, I have evolved into a Jewelry Artist and Designer, who loves to bully metal then beg forgiveness by embellishing it with baubles, beads and vintage treasures. I have embraced many arts and crafts over the years, but the passion I've found in jewelry making started the first time I opened the lid of my mother's jewelry box.

It is my desire that others will see and feel the love and joy that goes into each piece I make. It is my hope that those who have an appreciation for my art will also want to own a piece of it, and thus the legacy of my mother, grandmother will live on.

This is Carol's first effort as a professional jewelry designer. She is proud to be a member of The Art Group Gallery and honored to be included in such an outstanding association of talented artists. With grateful appreciation she acknowledges the technical support of her
daughter Christina, the promotional efforts of her daughter-in-law Mallory and the modeling talents of her granddaughters Elisabeth and Evelyn. She also wishes to express her gratitude to friends and family for their love and support and always believing in her.
