FIRST FRIDAY

February 3rd 7-10pm
with Blarney Brothers
Barbershop Quartet

Blarney Brothers, a barbershop quartet, is in its fourth year of entertaining folks all over the Shenandoah Valley, from private parties in homes, churches, country clubs, and restaurants, to public performances in various venues, including several appearances for The Art Group. All four Blarney Brothers are members and officers of the Harrisonburg Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (ask them about it!), and experienced barbershop quartet singers. They also carry proud Irish blood, which gives the quartet its name and its special offering of Irish songs arranged for barbershop voices.

Tenor Gary Bibens, who lives in Staunton with his wife Debbie, is a student at Mary Baldwin College. Lead Michael Calhoun, who lives at Bryce Resort in Basye with his wife Nancy, is a retired fundraiser. Baritone Bob Johnson, who lives in Waynesboro with his wife Linda Gail, is a law-enforcement chaplain and Brethren pastor. Bass Tom Pearce, who lives in Staunton with his wife Nancy, is a retired college professor and dean.

Sit back, watch, and listen to these four men put together the barbershop sound in chords without instruments, and take a trip back in time with the harmonies of yesteryear, when men wore straw hats and pocket-watches, time moved a little slower, and no one had heard of radio, TV, or amplified sound. Barbershop, a unique American art form, lives today in its third century, sung with love and care by quartets such as Blarney Brothers.

Help Art & Music Thrive in the Valley! Donations are gratefully, and blissfully accepted to help offset the costs of refreshments & help provide for the musical entertainment.
