FIRST FRIDAY
September 3rd 7-10pm
Michael Thomas Cash - Folk · Country · Blues
"An acoustic plethora of good ol' folk country blues with heart...
will both break your heart and lift it to heights you didn't know it could reach."
Michael Thomas Cash has been playing music since he got his first guitar at age 12. He honed his chops over the years in churches, coffee houses, and bars in North Carolina, Virginia, and DC.
In 1984 he moved to DC and began making the rounds of the open mics playing covers. He quickly became popular and after hanging out at Gallagher’s Pub and becoming inspired by the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter and John Jennings, he honed his vocal and guitar playing skills until he developed the chops to get hired around town for solo, duo, and trio gigs. Slowly he began to write and perform his own songs.
After a family tragedy he hooked up with Ricky Wilkins, co-owner of The Hungry Dog Café. Michael again had a venue to hang out at and honed his skills. Soon, Ricky and others encouraged him to make a CD resulting in the debut “Dancing My Name”. He later performed with the folk duo of Con & Cash and produced another CD “Con & Cash.” He now performs solo gigs whenever he can.
Weather permitting First Friday will be held outdoors.
