Paul Burnett is recognized as one of America’s leading leather artists and was so honored by being the first recipient of the prestigious Al Stohlman Award for Achievement in the field of leather Arts. He has written and published several leather craft books and is the author and administrator of his own correspondence course in leather carving and coloring. He has been a consistent contributor to the leading leather craft magazines over the past thirty five years. A frequent lecturer and demonstrator, his techniques and artistry are admired and followed by leather craftsmen the world over.
An active professional, Paul has been making his living with his craft for over thirty five years. He developed and successfully markets several lines of leather jewelry and accessory items. In 1999 and again in 2000 his leather feather jewelry was selected by the National Wild Turkey Federation for their core banquet package, a much sought-after and highly competitive position reserved for the very best in the arts and crafts field.
Paul has created many fine art pieces in leather, some of which are realistic life-sized bird sculptures in leather. His leather birds are in possession of collectors throughout the world and currently being shown in the Ward and Eis Gallery in Petoskey, Michigan.
