Ren has been a resident of the Shenandoah Valley for many years...
Her first exhibits and sales were in Hawaii c. 1960 and in Anaheim , Ca.
Through out her career she has traveled widely and has exhibited her work in many countries selling into collections in Australia, Great Britain, Japan and Mexico and the US. Rachel Ren Crawford is listed in American artists directory 2006&2009,and in art news quarterly artist gallery directory 2010.
In the 70s, Ren was an art teacher in North Carolina Public schools selected by the Cultural Arts program title Ill to begin a pilot program for the schools on the coast of North Carolina. She was at the same time president of the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of National Pen Women's organization promoting both writing and visual art for women. St. John's Gallery in Wilmington, NC began her professional art career. After this she traveled to Japan where she studied and her paintings were exhibited.
She taught painting in Lexington Va. at the Rockbridge Fine Arts Workshop on the campus of W&L during the late 70s.
In
1980s she became director and owner of the Danner House Art Gallery in
Middletown Va. sponsoring 23 Valley artists. In the late 199Os she was
sponsored and shown by galleries in Sante Fe, N.M ( Fine Art, and
Ridgeway Contemporary Art) 2002, Her paintings were
included in a group show Galleria Gora, Montreal Canada.
In
2000 she opened her own studio gallery in Strasburg, Va. where
she works and displays her paintings, collages and work in
progress...the gallery accepts visitors by appointment and is aglow
with colorful large abstract paintings.
