“The
natural environment and solitude are two themes that I continue to
explore in my work. I focus on what I term environmental
landscapes–paintings that combine the reality of the natural
environment with personal interpretation. I am interested in the real
and perceived power of nature; the healing, rejuvenation and symbolism
found through and in nature. The images are derived from a single or
several journeys where I explore–primarily–the
outside world. Earthforms and places discovered on these journeys are
the primary inspiration for my work”.
Tilton’s paintings have been shown in over one hundred
national exhibits since 1989. Individual exhibitions have been held in
metropolitan Washington; Baltimore and Cumberland, Maryland;
